Serious About Scripture Memorization? Fighter Verses App

One of my goals for 2013 is to memorize Scripture with greater intentionality. In my search for helpful tools, I discovered an AMAZING downloadable App.

Although it's been around for a while, it's new to me and I'm HOOKED.

I don't have any personal stake in, or receive any benefit from, promoting this App. I just think it's the coolest thing to hit my radar in a LONG TIME regarding Scripture memorization.

An informative summary from the designer: "The Fighter Verses Bible memory system was created to help believers persevere in the fight of faith by arming them with God's Word. Designed for children through adults, this system allows individuals, groups, or entire churches to memorize and review at their own pace."

Pretty awesome, right? You can choose your own memorization verses or choose from a pre-set selection (one verse each week). I've chosen verses that God is pressing on my heart in this season.

About the App: First, choose your verse (theirs or add your own):

Did you notice that your kiddos can use this App, too? Second, once you've selected your verse (you can even search Scripture by topic), it offers these options:

You can set your memory verse as your phone's lock screen! My 2013 foundation verse (Psalm 62:5) pops up each time I access my phone. An excellent reminder!

Third, avail yourself of the various avenues specifically designed to aid memorization (and further study):

Very handy, nifty tools! The App will read the verses to you, offer ways to sing them, and allow you to share them. It also sports fill-in-the-blank quizzes, should you choose.

John Piper, one of my favorite authors and speakers, uses this App and has great things to say about it in a short video here. The App is available for iPhones, iPads and Androids.

  1. I use old-fashioned cards where I write down the verse. I read the verse several times and then memorize it phrase by phrase. One of my favorite things is to combine the memory work with prayer time, praying through each verse as I memorize.

    1. Sharla, what a great way to hide God's Word in your heart. I love that you pray through your verses, as well. That's a crucial step. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom!

  3. I must have this! And the fact that you love Piper makes me love you even more...if that is at all possible! Let's plan a trip to Passion 2013 if he's there and go seem him, Beth, and Francis. (As if I really have a right to first name basis with any of them!) Bahahaha! But let's!
