Cool quote of the day!

"The photograph of God's face develops in the dark. When we walk in dark times, God's face becomes crystal clear. Then His brilliance dispels the darkness." L.B. Cowman

A Love So Great

We see throughout Scripture the preeminence of love. Love is a vital ingredient in our walk with God and our witness to the world about Him. Love changes lives, but God love saves them. 1 John 4:16 proclaims that God is love. It goes on to say that "whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him." Love is a choice and an action - not a feeling. The only way that we are able to love others is because God first loved us. He set the example.
For us to more fully comprehend John 3:16, it's crucial to understand that God's love is not based on us - it's based on HIS love. Just like an earthly father to his child, the dad's love is not based on whether or not that love is returned. The child can make a mess of the best circumstances, but that doesn't change dad's love for that child. That child is still precious and loved because that love is based on the father's love. The same holds true for God's love toward you and me. He loves us regardless of the mess we can make of our lives. He loves us whether or not we love Him in return.
Love is priceless. It cannot be found on the shelves at the corner store. Love is more powerful than any drug on the market. What are some of the things that you've done in the name of love? If you're anything like me, we've all done some pretty silly things. But over time, our love for those closest to us is matured by our choices and sacrifices toward each other. The choice to love or not. Forgive or not. To be kind or cruel. God's love for us is so much more than we can imagine! He could choose not to love us - then where would we be? He could choose to demand that we keep every law to the letter or else. He could choose to bring down on each of us the wrath we most assuredly deserve. Instead, He chooses to love. His love forgives, His grace is sufficient, His mercy endures forever. Now that, beloved, is a love worth sharing.
